Where can I find the refrigerant information for my chiller?
The refrigerant type and charge for your chiller can be found on the rating plate attached to the unit.
The rating plate provides important information about the chiller’s specification, including:
- Chiller model
- Serial number
- Refrigerant type
- Refrigerant charge
- Electrical information
The rating plate is typically located on the rear or side of the chiller depending on the model.
If you are contacting ATC about refrigerant information, a clear photograph of the complete rating plate is particularly useful.
Can I find the refrigerant information on the product specification?
Refrigerant information is also provided within the technical documentation for current ATC products.
However, if you need to identify the refrigerant in an existing chiller, particularly an older or legacy unit, always check the rating plate on the actual equipment.
This ensures that you are referring to the specification of your particular chiller rather than a different model or current equivalent.
Why does the refrigerant charge vary between chillers?
The required refrigerant charge depends on the design and specification of the refrigeration system.
Different chiller models and configurations can therefore use different refrigerants and refrigerant quantities.
For this reason, refrigerant charge should always be taken from the information provided for the specific unit rather than estimated from another chiller.
